Location: Zurich

Task: Design, Design Development and Construction Document

Collaboration:S+B Baumanagement AG, Winterthur und Olten

Sihlcity is a large-scale development on the site of the former "Zurich Paper Mill on the Sihl" in Zurich-Wiedikon. It was launched in 2003 by the total contractor Karl Steiner AG together with the architectural firm Theo Hotz.
The Urban Entertainment Center built on the site was opened in 2007 and is the first of its kind in Switzerland. It covers an area of around 100,000 m² with offerings such as shopping, gastronomy, cinema, cultural center, fitness center, hotel, public library and a medical center as well as apartments.
Today, Sihlcity is owned by a group of investors - the Sihlcity co-ownership of Credit Suisse.

In 2018, as part of a planner selection process, five offices were asked to prepare a study on the future prospects of the shopping center. MACH Architektur was awarded the contract for the redesign and planned several interventions over two years to revitalize the mall. In 2021, these measures will be implemented.
