Task: Design, Design Development and Construction Document
Collaboration: Michael Michalsky, Berlin - Kobusch und Sedeño Architekten, Berlin
When luxury leather goods brand MCM wanted to refresh its image, we worked alongside its new Creative Director, star German designer Michael Michalsky, to develop a new store concept for Berlin.
Furniture played a vital role in our idea. We created pieces with simple shapes but which also had exciting and extraordinary details only visible on the second look. For example, we used a rhombic-cut mirror at the back of display units to create the impression of light coming from a mysterious source. The interior was also enriched by this layered approach to design. At the rear of the store, for instance, we hung a golden metal curtain made from the iconic brass logo plates found on MCM bags.
