Arwa Designer's Saturday 2016

A chandelier composed of 1200 bars of soap in the form of an oversized, hanging water vortex, as well as faucets set on soft terry cloth podiums, invited visitors to immerse themselves in the visual and olfactory water world of Arwa at Designers' Saturday 2016 in Langenthal. The design team of VSI.ASAI: Bureau Hindermann, MACH Architecture and Rigling Innenarchitektur were responsible for the staging.

In the first act of the atmospheric design, 1200 bars of soap formed a chandelier in the shape of an oversized, hanging water vortex, whose scent defined the olfactory experience of the room. In parallel, this referenced water falling from the sky. Adapted to the interior, it symbolized both the flowing water from faucets and shower heads and the swirls created when sinks and bathtubs are emptied. In the second act, the viewer's perception was directed to the comforting ambience of the bathroom. Symbolically, Arwa's faucets were bedded on podiums of soft terrycloth linen. Similar to the display of a special piece of jewelry on a silk pillow, the stimulating display emphasized the value of the faucets presented.

"A fragrant staging that managed to sensually occupy the high space. With the faucets, the towels and the soap, Arwa succeeded in staging an effective and photogenic shadow play with simple means. An additional plus was that a large part of the installation material can be reused after dismantling and does not have to be disposed of."
