Task: Design, Design Development and Construction Document, Construction Management
This project was realized for esteemed clients and friends who have accompanied MACH‘s journey since its establishment in 2000. Having realized several projects together in the past, both MACH and our friends were in accordance, that once again timeless Swiss design and high quality were at the core of this project. MACH was commissioned to create a private residence on the golden coast of lake Zurich which is both representative and cozy. The apartment is located on the top floor of a 1960s modernist building. The highly partitioned apartment was optimized by partially tearing down the walls in the front portion of the apartment, to create a larger, floating space for leisure, work and relaxation. The aim of this refurbishment was to synchronize the design and choice of materials with the apartment’s mid-century origin. Green marble windowsills, dark clinker tiles and warm oak wood give the apartment a grounded, yet exclusive look. As in previous projects, MACH teamed up with carpenters from the Alps for the wood works. The floor is a modern interpretation of the Swiss mid-century „Klötzli Parkett“ and was executed by Swiss family owned parquet company. For the bathroom tiles, MACH chose hand-glazed tiles from a historic Portuguese firm. Large windows in the living area flood the space with light and provide stunning views over the glistening lake Zurich.
