Location: Zurich
Task: Design and Design Document
Collaboration: Makroplan GmbH, Neuheim
Since MACH was contracted to install new offices on the second floor at Brandschenkenstrasse in Zurich for Helvetica Property Management, the company has grown in size and rented the third level in the same building. The new floor is purposed to be a representative area to receive clients and to sharpen the team spirit. The carpentry work was done by R+S Schreinerei, with whom we have done several projects already, and whose precision and quality of work can be felt in the final product throughout the space. After the second floor was made in warm oak, the third floor is made in American walnut veneer with clear lacquer finish which has a dark, elegant character and creates a noble interior of highest quality. The combination of walnut wood with stone floors, carpets and leather creates an inviting and representative space for meeting clients and closing real estate deals. The office kitchen features a bar with a Hoshisaki ice machine and an Italian espresso machine, combining joie de vivre and precision.
The furniture is classic and a mix of retro pieces and new designs such as the sideboards by Punt as well as Vitra meeting chairs and bar stools by the Scandinavian brand Gubi. As a native Norwegian, the company founder grew up surrounded by Scandinavian design, hence the objective was to combine the Scandinavian design aesthetics with a Swiss standard of interior finish and detailing. Photographs of the Lofoten and the Dufourspitze show the natural similarities between Norway and Switzerland and unite the basic idea to bring Scandinavian investors to Switzerland.
If the Helvetica success story continues like this, let's start thinking about another floor…
